Girl Scouts
Our Girl Scout programs align with the Girl Scout mission to build girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place. We provide programs specific to earning Daisy Petals, Brownie Badges, and Junior Girl Scout Badges, as well as other general scouting programs that suit all ages. Our programs cover topics including environmental responsibility, habitats, and nature-related subjects including bugs, flowers, and birds of prey.
Scout programs can be scheduled on weekend mornings or early afternoons, or weeknights, depending on availability.
Onsite-only scout programs adhere to the following pricing scale, and troop leaders and adult chaperones are free. Any special exceptions are noted under the specific program descriptions below.
1-5 scouts | $100 per program
6-10 scouts | $125 per program
11-15 scouts | $175 per program
16-20 scouts | $225 per program
If your troop is larger than 20 scouts and you are interested in one of our onsite scout programs, please contact the registrar to see what may be available.
Programs that are available both onsite and offsite (listed under the last drop-down below) have flat fee pricing for any size troop, and are great options for large troop meetings and events.
Clover’s Story
Discover what it means to use resources wisely as we learn about ways to reduce, reuse, and recycle. Read Clover’s Story and make a healthy snack. Then meet a live turtle and create flower crafts out of recycled materials.

Design with Nature
We’ll map out a great adventure in this program! As we hike, we will go birdwatching and help participate in counting birds for citizen science. Along the way, scouts will observe and identify other signs of nature, and finish with making a map of our hike together.

Eco Learner
Your scouts will learn how to protect nature with the “Leave No Trace” principles. We will hike to the Amphitheater where the scouts are able to act out how they would protect nature. After showing what they learned, we will share a healthy snack together!

Mari’s Story
Come practice what it means to be responsible for what you say and do. Gather around a campfire to read Mari’s Story, sing songs about environmental responsibility, and learn how to be responsible with fire. We will even make s’mores!

Numbers in Nature
How can we use natural objects to practice math? As we hike the trails of Schlitz Audubon, we will explore and create shadow art, sort and measure natural objects like rocks and leaves, and even create our own nature rulers to measure ourselves!

Rosie’s Story
Let’s go on an outdoor adventure and make the world a better place! Read Rosie’s Story and head to the beach to help clean up litter. Afterward, enjoy a healthy snack and make bird feeders to take home.

Shapes in Nature
Discover all the shapes and patterns that hide in nature around us. Meet an animal with a striking pattern, and go on a hike to learn what patterns and shapes are common in the forest, field, and pond. Along the way, we will use these shapes and patterns to make our own outdoor nature art.

Bugs (Naturalist Badge)
Did you know that a monarch butterfly can migrate 3,000 miles to Mexico? Discover more facts about bugs as we learn how to classify these important creatures. Create a bug craft and take a guided bug hike in pursuit of learning more about the fascinating lives of insects and arachnids.

Eco Friend
In this program, scouts will discover how to be a great friend to nature! We will learn how to follow the “Leave No Trace” principles that help us take care and be kind to wildlife. After exploring some of our outdoor habitats, we will practice building a safe campfire and eat a special treat!

Hiker (Outdoor Badge)
Come explore the beautiful trails at Schlitz Audubon! We start with learning the six essentials of hiking and enjoy a healthy trail snack. Then we head into the woods and learn “Leave No Trace” policies. This is a perfect program for beginning hikers.

Outdoor Art Creator
Create and explore nature by making ephemeral art! We will look at examples of beach and forest outdoor art and hike outside to create our own pieces. We will sing and dance along with the music given to us by nature on our destination hike.

Senses (Investigation Badge)
How in tune are you with your senses? Investigate your five senses through hands-on activities including taste testing, smelling secret scent jars, and touching mystery textures. We’ll also observe a live animal and discover how it utilizes its senses

Shapes in Nature
What shapes, patterns, and colors can we find in nature? Scouts will make their own guide to track natural objects, then search for them on our hike. We will watch for birds and participate in a citizen science project tracking bird species. After graphing the results of our hike, we will make nature art demonstrating symmetry and tessellations.

Think Like a Citizen Scientist
Discover how participating in citizen science can help researchers all over the world study our planet. After practicing their observation skills through various fun activities, the Girl Scouts will participate in Project Squirrel, a SciStarter Citizen Science project aimed at discovering how and where squirrels survive in their habitats! Together we will hike the trails in search of our furry friends and record data about our observations.

Animal Habitats (Animals Badge)
Habitats come in many shapes and sizes, but each one has food, water, shelter, and space. Meet a live animal and determine what kind of habitat it would live in. Explore the many habitats found on the Center’s grounds.

Bronze Award Project*
Girls pair up to make Screech Owl/American Kestrel nesting boxes. They will also get the chance to meet one of these raptors and learn some of the past and present dangers these raptors face. Information is included about the best habitats and tree heights for placing the nesting boxes. *Note: This program has an additional $25 fee on top of the regular cost.

Shapes in Nature
Discover how nature is full of talented art! Scouts will explore patterns and symmetry found in natural objects, including fractals and the Fibonacci sequence. Together we’ll explore leaves, flowers, trees, and animals on our hike who showcase these mathematical themes. Then we’ll spend time creating our own outdoor art using the mathematical concepts we’ve learned.

Think Like a Citizen Scientist
Discover how participating in citizen science can help researchers all over the world study our planet. After practicing their observation skills through various fun activities, the Girl Scouts will discover how to identify plants and animals and record their findings using iNaturalist, a citizen science project that documents living organisms all over the world!

Eco Trekker
Take a hike – with a purpose! In this program, Girl Scouts will learn how to minimize environmental impacts while hiking to Lake Michigan. On the beach, they will pick up litter to help clean our natural shoreline and positively impact the surrounding environment. Together they will analyze what they find and create posters to spread awareness about keeping our Great Lakes healthy and clean.

Think Like A Citizen Scientist
Become a Citizen Scientist and help Schlitz Audubon collect data about our wild birds! Discover how participating in citizen science can help researchers all over the world study our planet. Together we will practice making scientific observations and recording important data for eBird, a world-wide volunteer citizen science project that documents birds all over the globe!

Trees
Get to know your local trees! Learn about the importance of different tree species and how to identify them. Discover how humans and trees share many connections and explore the ways we use wood in our everyday lives. Scouts will create a tree-themed craft and learn how to study the trees in their own neighborhoods.

Experience Schlitz Audubon like never before by staying overnight! Put your senses to the test on a night hike to see if you have what it takes to be a nocturnal animal. Then, gather around the campfire to make s’mores! A continental breakfast is offered in the morning.

Geocaching Adventure
Embark on a high-tech treasure hunt as you develop the many skills involved in geocaching. Learn about the history, technology, and variations of geocaching done all around the world. Your scout group will also have the chance to use our GPS systems to navigate the Schlitz Audubon grounds and explore our virtual geocache course in a self-guided trivia adventure! This program is designed for Scouts 4th grade or older. Additional adult chaperones may be required based on group size.

Owl Prowl
Hike with us deep into the forest while hunting for owls. Sound is the best way to identify owls – put on your big deer ears and prepare to hear and see some of our local residents. This program provides the natural history knowledge and necessary activities to complete your badge requirements. Includes a guided hike, owl artifacts, and guaranteed visit with live owls!

Schlitz After Dark
Explore Schlitz Audubon in this nighttime guided nature hike! Put your senses to the test and discover what animals become active as the sun goes down. Watch the sunset from the top of the observation tower, then hike around the many habitats, looking and listening for wildlife. Program scheduling will be based on sunset times.

Reptiles & Amphibians
Whether they slither, hop, jump, swim, or crawl, Wisconsin’s reptiles and amphibians are sure to fascinate your group. See them up close and learn about what makes each of them unique in this intriguing program!

Owls: Designed for Darkness
These seldom seen, silent winged hunters shine best when the sun goes down. Our feathered raptor staff model their special night hunting adaptations and some basic owl behaviors providing insights into their natural history. Wisconsin is home to a variety of native owls, each with its own special adaptations. Our resident owls will engage your audience as they see firsthand the power of these amazing birds. Pellet dissection also offered for an enhanced learning experience!

Beaks & Talons
Which bird is the fastest? Which has silent flight? Join us for an interactive comparison of falcons, hawks, and owls. This is an engaging and informative experience for all ages!

Eagle & Friends
With awesome power, spectacular strength, a huge wingspan, and massive talons, the Bald Eagle is the very essence of a raptor and headlines this program. Accompanied by hawks, owls, and falcons.

Raptors in Conservation
In this presentation, learn about conservation successes and challenges that raptor ecologists face. Environmental contamination, habitat loss, and climate change have the most dramatic effect on apex predators, making raptors strong indicators of overall ecosystem health. Our live birds will provide unique opportunities to explore past and present issues in conservation. Scouts will also learn how they can help conserve raptors in their everyday lives.
