Monotype Printing with Natural Materials

Using natural materials such as leaves, ferns, and grasses, learn how to create luminous prints with a unique artistic style. We will explore several monotype techniques using oil-based inks and an etching press. Dried natural materials and other stencils are the starting point for creating at least five prints.

This simple printmaking process provides a means for immediate expression for beginners and experienced artists alike. Several runs through the press produce rich color and spatial complexity. The results are surprising and beautiful!

Barbara Manger is an experienced teacher of drawing in colleges, universities, and adult learning settings. Her own artwork, which focuses on nature, has been exhibited in the Midwest and elsewhere. She has received awards for her work in art education. She is a lover of Wisconsin’s natural wonders and holds an MA and MFA degrees.
