Literary Hike: The Works of Robin Wall Kimmerer
Sunday, December 8, 2024 | 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm
$17.00 – $23.00This guided hike will follow the pages of the works of Robin Wall Kimmerer. As a botanist, Robin Wall Kimmerer has been trained to ask questions of nature with the tools of science. As a member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation, she embraces the notion that plants and animals are our oldest teachers.
Participants will listen to curated passages from the books Braiding Sweetgrass, Gathering Moss, and Kimmerer’s newest release The Service Berry. Excerpts will be read aloud while experiencing the natural phenomenon being described as they explore Schlitz Audubon through the words of Kimmerer.
This program is led by Naturalist Aubrey Fulsaas, who developed our Literary Hike programming. Copies of the books will be available in our Nature Store to purchase but are not required. This program will take place entirely outdoors.
