Full Moon Hike
Wednesday, February 12, 2025 | 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
$17.00 – $23.00Come bask in the pale light of the full moon and enjoy the sounds of nature on a frosty February evening. During twilight, there is a different world to explore, as owls hoot and coyotes howl. Hike through the forest and down to the lake, where we’ll look for signs of animal activity. We’ll discuss where to look for these animal signs and what animals do to survive the colder conditions. Learn to tell the difference between the many tracks and traces animals leave behind. On this night, the moon won’t be the only bright shining light in our sky; the stars will be visible, and we’ll discuss the constellations, comparing winter’s night sky to the sky of other seasons.
Naturalist Jim Thielke leads this winter hike through the grounds of the Schlitz Audubon. Jim is an experienced and avid nature investigator with a passion for cold nights outside and sharing information about how animals brave the winter. Jim will meet everyone just outside the front doors of the nature center to start the adventure.
