Forest Fridays: Winter Series
Friday, February 2, 2024 | 9:00 am - 11:30 am
$400.00 – $475.00Friday mornings, February 2 – March 22
We also offer a Forest Fridays: Spring Series starting on April 5.
Forest Fridays is an 8-week, Friday morning series hosted by the Nature School. This program makes use of the Center’s outstanding nature trails, as well as the school’s four specially designed outdoor classrooms. In this series, Nature School teachers focus on nature experiences that are age-appropriate and include plenty of time for play and social interaction. Our series highlights inquiry-based science, emergent literacy, and process-focused art experiences.
In our Winter Series, we’ll learn about the science of snowflakes, explore freeze and thaw, search for the color red in nature, and learn the maple sugaring process from sap to syrup! Participants will hike and explore favorite destinations at Schlitz Audubon, including Mystery Lake, Woodland Loop, and Lake Michigan, but also have time to climb, play, and explore, including hopefully lots of snow play!
Forest Fridays is for children ages 4-6 and is the perfect option for families who would like their children to share in the Nature School experience but prefer a short-term commitment! It is also a nice complement to a traditional K4 afternoon program.
A completed student profile, which includes a health history and emergency care plan, is required for each participant prior to registration.
Members: $400 | Non-members: $475
