Forest Fridays: Spring Series

Friday, April 4, 2025 | 9:00 am - 11:30 am

,

Forest Fridays is an 8-week, Friday morning series hosted by the Nature School. This program makes use of the Center’s outstanding trails, as well as the school’s four specially designed outdoor classrooms. In this series, Nature School teachers focus on nature experiences that are age-appropriate and include plenty of time for play and social interaction. Our series highlights inquiry-based science, emergent literacy, and process-focused art experiences.

In our Spring Series, we’ll learn about spring bird migration, spy the first signs of spring, study the ephemeral life in a vernal pond, observe spring wildflowers, and learn about the magic of metamorphosis. Participants will hike and explore favorite destinations at Schlitz Audubon, including Turtle Pond, Western Prairie, and Lake Michigan, but also have time to climb, play, and explore. Expect lots of mud and puddle play!

Forest Fridays is for children ages 4-6 and is the perfect option for families who would like their children to share in the Nature School experience but prefer a short-term commitment! It is also a nice complement to a traditional K4 afternoon program.

We also offer a Forest Fridays: Fall Series starting on September 20, 2024.

How to Participate

Please fill out this form designating your interest in our Forest Friday program. You may request Fall or Spring sessions or both. We will be notifying families of enrollment on a first come, first serve basis starting June 15, until the classes are full. After your child has been registered, you will receive an invoice and a link to complete the required paperwork.
